Recently I did a post about Where to see and learn about Monarch Butterflies in Southern California.  Afterwards, I received this great news about another spectacular butterfly event happening in Orange County on February 7.  Read on to learn more!

OC Parks invites families to learn all about Monarch Butterflies and their natural habitat with an up-close look at the magnificent creatures during the sixth annual Monarch Butterfly Day on Saturday, February 7 at Mile Square Regional Park.

This FREE event takes place inside the Butterfly Garden at the park’s Camp Sycamore located near parking lot E.

Children can take part in planting native plants to attract the Monarch Butterflies. Participants are invited to step inside a netted butterfly enclosure. Butterfly experts will be on-site to provide educational information and answer questions about the beautiful and unique specimens. Additional activities available at the event will include children’s crafts, face painting and guided nature walks.

The event is recommended for ages 4 to 12.  Bringing a camera is recommended.  If it rains the event will be rescheduled.

This is AWESOME, Jilleen! I checked on the FV website and it says the event is on the 6th... and now I am not sure which is correct- your blog or the Miles Square site. I figure it makes more sense to have the event on a Saturday, but I thought I would check. Been to your site about a million times, by the way and so thankful for this blessing you are providing homeschoolers in So Cal. Love & hugs to Andrew & the kiddos.
