Last Thursday, my husband and I were invited by the Gigasavvy Social Media Club to wine and dine at Savannah Chop House in Laguna Niguel, California.  I heard great things about this contemporary American restaurant, but had yet to experience it first hand.  Plus it was also the chance to spend quality time with my husband without the kids.  We were in for a wonderful treat!

Savannah Chop House is best known for serving American regional cooking that features an extensive variety of steaks, chops, seafood and Southern specialties.  Recently, they hired Executive Chef Chris Tzorin for his progressive culinary techniques to create unique and creative dishes for the chop house.

Chef Tzorin has more than 12 years of experience in professional culinary arts and extensive knowledge of Orange County’s restaurant scenes.  From working in the kitchen alongside his dad to attending the Art Institute of California in Orange County, Chef Tzorin brings a fresh face and menu to Savannah Chop House.

For the Gigasavvy Social Media Club, Chef Tzorin created a “Date Night” menu.

The waiters started off the evening by serving appetizers consisting of Smoked Salmon on a Toasted Point, Bruschetta and Grilled Prosciutto Wrapped Shrimp.  Bon Appetite!

Then we dove right into the first course!  Tempura Stuffed Zuccini made with Herb Goat Cheese & Sundried Tomatoes, Baby Mixed Greens and Ponzu.  Since I personally love Japanese tempura, the Tempura Stuffed Zuccini was right up my alley.

After the first course, my husband and I sampled two of Savannah Chop House’s most popular salads.  I selected the Caesar Salad served with Croutons, Fried Capers, Parmesan and House Caesar Dressing.  The Fried Capers were a nice addition to a classic salad.

My husband enjoyed Savannah’s Watermelon Beet Salad made with Mixed Blend, Candied Pecans, Goat Cheese and Herbal Vinaigrette.  He said it was very refreshing.

Throughout the evening, we were also served a variety of cocktails to enjoy.  My personal favorite was the Sangria.

For the main course, Chef Tzorin prepared a Surf and Turf style entrée.  A Filet Medallion with Shrimp Scampi served with delicious Mashed Potatoes, Brussel sprouts and a Cabernet Reduction.  Perfecto!

To top off the evening, Chef Tzorin created two outstanding desserts.  I had the Warm Flourless Chocolate Cake and especially savored the Vanilla Bean Ice Cream served alongside it.

My husband completed his meal with the Strawberry Short Cake served with Warm Vanilla Cake, Fresh Strawberries and Whipped Cream.

Savannah’s private dining room with a warm ambiance and its own fireplace, creates an intimate setting for couples on date night.  Plus the restaurant has a beautiful 100 seat Sunset Terrace, with fire pit and distant ocean view, that is available for private parties.
