Renew, Reuse, Recycle with Energizer® EcoAdvanced™ Batteries

Shh!  I have a little secret to share with you!  I like to shop at thrift stores in my spare time.  Having two very innovative, creative and energetic children takes a lot of time and cash flow!  So at home, I like to rotate their toys and keep their imaginations working.  By shopping at a thrift store, I am able to save both time and money.   I also enjoy “hunting” for new presents that I know that my children will appreciate.  From electronics to craft supplies to legos, I always find something new that my children love to play with.

Recently, I went to my local thrift store and came across a great-looking remote control helicopter for my son.  He loves anything that can either move or fly.  Plus he already has a steady stream of remote control cars, airplanes and boats at home.  So why not add one more toy to add to his stash?

For this particular helicopter, I  needed to get new batteries.  So on my way home from the thrift store, I stopped by my local Home Depot and picked up a pack of new Energizer® EcoAdvanced™ AA batteries.

Recycling is very important to my family.  We try to recycle everything from cans to bottles to plastic bags.  You name it, we have tried to recycle it!  That’s one of the reasons why I like to shop at thrift stores so much.  Instead of a nice helicopter toy being thrown in the landfill, I recycled it as a gift for Field Trip Boy.

I also selected Energizer® EcoAdvanced™ AA batteries for the helicopter, because they are the world’s first AA battery made with 4% recycled batteries.  I always knew that you could recycle old batteries, but what I didn’t know, is that there is an actual company using the old battery material to make new ones.  Technology has come so far these days and I like it!

Learn how to re-purpose an old toy by following this Energizer® EcoAdvanced™ AA batteries tutorial:

1. Select an old toy from around the house or purchase a used one from your local thrift store.  For the purpose of this tutorial, I will use my son’s helicopter.

2. Open up the back of the remote control with a screwdriver.

3. Add in the new Energizer® EcoAdvanced™ AA batteries.

Energizer® EcoAdvanced™ AA batteries are Energizer’s longest-lasting battery.   By using longer lasting and reliable batteries, my family uses fewer batteries.  For an environmentally conscious family like ours, Energizer® EcoAdvanced™ AA batteries helps us to power our most critical devices AND have less impact on the planet!

5. Give the helicopter to your child and have them test drive it.  Watch for the smile on their face as it flies away!

Sad that sometimes an old toy just needs some new batteries to make it special again. #client
