A Salute to Nurse Corinth in Honor of Nurse Appreciation Month

This review was made possible by iConnect and Pampers.   I was provided compensation to facilitate this post, but all opinions are 100% mine.
Nurse Appreciation Month
Four years ago, during a normal evening at home, I checked my Facebook account and learned the sad news.  The youth pastor at my local church was in a coma.  Earlier in the week, Godfrey, an inspiring young youth pastor who faithfully served the youth of our church for two years, was not feeling very well.  He had severe stomach pains and suffered from nausea.  A few days later he slipped into a coma.  It was a sad day for our entire church family.  Later on that month, our church body along with several other supporters from across the country, raised enough money to transport Godfrey via air ambulance from California to one of the world’s best brain institutes in Chicago.  A few weeks later Godfrey woke up from his coma!

In the midst of all the turmoil and chaos, Godfrey’s amazing wife, Corinth, stood by his side.  At the time of the incident, Corinth was pregnant with their second child and worked night shifts as a nurse at the local hospital.

As Godfrey’s condition worsened, she continued to work the night shift at the hospital to provide for her family, cared for her oldest daughter at home and sat by Godfrey’s bedside in prayer and vigil.

The surgeon had to remove a significant part of Godfrey’s brain. I’ve had nurses and doctors talk to me about end-of-life care. I’ve even had to endure a conversation with a family member who referred to Godfrey as a “vegetable.” You tell me… can a vegetable write the following?! Thank God for the support and prayers of the church, you have helped uphold me more than you know! Blessings, Corinth (Nov. 3, 2013)

Pampers Thank You Nurses Awards Program 2015 #7

A few years have passed since Godfrey’s accident and Corinth is still standing by her man!  She continues to work as a NICU nurse saving babies lives on a daily basis, raising her two little girls and managing her husband’s ongoing care.  Basically, Corinth is on call 24 hrs. a day!

Godfrey started water therapy today with Aquatic Rehab. The buoyancy of the water helps facilitate movement and lessen spasticity. Thank you for the prayers to return to therapy! Sessions will be 1x/week for now. – Corinth

Do you know a nurse that inspires others such as Corinth?  Pampers is launching the Thank You Nurses Awards program, honoring nurses across three award categories: Labor & Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Postpartum in recognition of Nurse Appreciation Month.
