Two weeks ago, while my sister and two nieces were in town for spring break, I took them to LA to enjoy the sites and visit the newBroad Museum. But having seven people in a vehicle can feel pretty cramped, unless you’re driving in the new 2016 Kia Sedona SXL.
The kids and I were overly amazed by the Kia Sedona SXL and everything about it – from the sleek look to the amazing leg room. I fell in love with the Dual Power Sliding Doors that made loading up the kids and their ‘stuff’ pretty easy. The doors simply opened and closed with the push of a button. Trust me, it’s heaven! Plus, if for some reason you forget to shut the doors, you can easily use your key fob to close them back up.
The key fob also opens and closes the back gate, which is another great feature.
Next, let’s talk about the heated and ventilated seats. In California, things can get pretty sticky when it gets hot. I love that the driver and front passenger seats were not only heated, but also ventilated, which means anyone who’s sitting in them gets to control their comfort level. I definitely took advantage of this feature while driving to LA when it was 85 degrees outside. In fact, the Kia Sedona SXL leather seats are actually more comfortable than the couches in my house!
The Kia Sedona SXL’s 3.3 Liter, V6 engine is so quiet, but so great. It can ramp up when it needs to, but also produces a smooth ride for the family. I’d say that 248 lb-ft @ 5,200 rpm is efficient enough for a mini van. Plus with a 21.1 gallon gas tank you can fill up and go far. And with an estimated 22 MPG you can actually afford to go somewhere fun!
When it comes to room in the Kia Sedona SXL, you can clearly see how much room there is. If I really wanted to, I could easily take a nap in the backseat! Since as a family we’re always on the go, I loved the roomy back for all of our luggage and extracurricular stuff such as our sporting equipment.
Safety wise, I felt completely comfortable driving the Kia Sedona SXL. Of course, feeling safe and being safe are two different things. The Kia Sedona SXL actually uses Dual Front Advanced Airbags, which means when used correctly, these airbags can actually detect the presence of a passenger upfront, can monitor the severity of a car accident, and can control airbag inflation. Since it can control airbag inflation, injuries from airbags may be less likely.
All in all, I give the Kia Sedona SXL two thumbs up, because it got us safely to LA and back with ease. It is a beautiful vehicle with a smooth ride.
