“The LEGO Movie™ 4D A New Adventure” at LEGOLAND California

Emmet, Wyldstyle, Unikitty and Benny were in Carlsbad, California last week for the opening of the new “The LEGO Movie™ 4D A New Adventure” and So Cal Field Trips was there to meet them!  It was an incredible treat for both parents and children alike to be greeted by the red carpet leading to the premiere and a surprise mariachi band along the way!

The kids had fun posing in front of the giant posters of the movie along the path, leading to the character meet-and-greet session.  Emmet and Wyldstyle were the first ones to welcome us while we waited in line for the screening.

Another treat, literally, was the plethora of complimentary food served with a little Lego humor on the side, including the “every day is Taco Tuesday” taco bar, fruit stand, drinks, candies, churros, popcorn, and “overpriced coffee”.  We were even provided with seat cushions emblazoned with the movie logo to sit on and take home after the show!  Thank you LEGOLAND!

Before the movie started, a very dandy master of ceremonies brought Emmet and Wylstyle on stage to introduce the movie.  We were even more surprised to see they had brought their good friends Unikitty and Benny to the movie premiere!  My daughter and I love, love, love Unikitty.

“The LEGO Movie™ 4D A New Adventure” is a new 12-minute 3-D computer animated film with “4D” effects such as wind, water and fog.  If you’re not comfortable with the wind and water like my son, you can sit in the back and still enjoy the movie with the 3D effects thanks to the glasses they give you when you first arrive.

Our family truly enjoyed the new adventure and all its funny references  During the movie, familiar heroes are invited to “Brick Land”, a cheaper version of Legoland, where “everything is super” by a new character, Risky Business.  The kids laughed a lot and the parents picked up on some references the younger audience did not understand, which is similar to the original movie.

As of February 6, “The LEGO Movie™ 4D A New Adventure” is open to all guests at LEGOLAND California.  The opportunity to see the “The LEGO Movie™ 4D A New Adventure” is included in the regular price of admission to LEGOLAND California.  Once there, just head over to the LEGO Showplace Theater, which recently underwent a transformation in preparation for the new attraction with a new door design, movie theater artwork and expanded entrance area.

You will also have plenty of time to enjoy the park between two side-splitting viewings of the 4D Adventure, so don’t forget to visit Miniland USA, Fun Town or LEGO Friends Heartlake City, to name a few, and the Star Wars land where visitors can walk between various scenes of the Star Wars saga and get immersed in its universe!  Since 2015, the newest addition is the 8-foot wide Death Star display.
