$26.99 Discount Tickets to CHILL 2014 at The Queen Mary!
Open Dec. 4-7, Dec. 9 – Jan. 4 & Jan. 8-11
Earlier this month, my children and I had the opportunity to visit CHILL at The Queen Mary in Long Beach! We went last year and had a great time, but this year they made some essential improvements that made it even better.
We went on a Thursday evening right when it opened at 5:00 p.m. and the crowds were light. This is the perfect time to go.
When you imagine CHILL, think of North Pole temperatures, in sunny warm California! The Ice Kingdom takes on a Christmas in California theme, giving guests a taste of what the holidays are like in the Golden State. The perfect theme song for this year’s CHILL would be Christmas In The Sand by Colbie Caillat!
CHILL is an “13,000-square foot winter wonderland featuring over 2 million pounds of ice as each exhibit is meticulously created by an international team of expert ice sculptors and enhanced with stunning lights and colors for a visually captivating experience unlike any other.”
I appreciated the fact that they also included the nativity scene in the ice display this year. It points to the true meaning of Christmas.
Inside the temperatures drop to a numbing 9-degrees. The Queen Mary provides parkas for folks to wear, but in my opinion, that’s not enough to keep warm. So instead I always make sure my kids wear winter jackets, gloves and hats when inside the Ice Kingdom. Believe me, it is worth it to bring these extra layers of clothes!
One of the improvements The Queen Mary made this year is the new and improved Ice Kingdom Queen Mary slides. Each guest now has unlimited access to the 10-foot, four-lane ice slides included in the price of admission.
Plus new this year is the E.L.F. (Express Lane Fast) Pass! For only $15.00 more per person, you get to move to the front of the line at the entrance to the Ice Kingdom and the Ice Tubing lanes. We used the E.L.F. Pass as the crowds got heavier throughout the evening and it saved us a lot of time waiting in line. I think it is worthy every penny!
In addition to the Indoor Winter Wonderland, families can enjoy:
OUTDOOR ICE RINK
The Queen Mary’s world class 6,500 square-foot outdoor ice rink is presented by the Port of Long Beach. Free ice skate rentals are included with each ticket, but guests can use their own ice skates if they so choose. Guests aged 4+ are allowed to skate.
Unlimited ice tubing on the Glacier Glide which stands 2 stories tall and 100-feet long and is made entirely of ice. This was Field Trip Boy’s favorite part of the evening. Over and over again he went! This year each CHILL ticket comes with unlimited usage of the Glacier Glide too!
VISIT WITH SANTA CLAUS
Get your photos taken with Santa and tell him what you want for Christmas (Nov. 27 – Dec. 24). The cost is $8 photo/$30 photo 4-pack. You can also experience Story time with Mrs. Claus inside the cabin!
Purchase a holiday gingerbread house for $19.95 and decorate it with Ginny Gingerbread. They also offer FREE holiday crafts inside the Gingerbread House which Field Trip Girl enjoyed a lot!
