Do you have family members that live far away, overseas or serve in the military?  Does your spouse travel for a living or do you wish there was a more personal way to stay in touch with your loved ones?

Today we have all sorts of gadgets and technology that help us stay in touch with one another.  From cell phones to Facetime to Skype, we are able to talk with our loved ones whenever we want (unless they don’t pick up!)

So in our technically driven society, how we do make technology more personal?  Especially for our children who are growing up in this technological age?  I recently discovered a new product called CloudPets™ that has helped my family stay connected with our family members that live far away.

My children have 3 sets of grandparents that live out of the area.  Two in Northern California and one in Georgia.  They also have another set of grandparents that live in Southern California, but they live over an hour away.  Therefore, my children do not get to see any of their grandparents on a regular basis and miss them dearly in between visits.

So last week I went to my local Walmart and picked out two CloudPets™ for my kids!

CloudPets™ marry the ease of a text/voice message with the cuteness of a stuffed animal to make an adorable present!  CloudPets™ lets you download a free app and register your animal and then invite friends and family to send a message to the pet.   Friends and family can record a message and your pet’s heart will flash to alert the recipient they have a new message.  You can hear the message on your CloudPets™ and then record a message back.  CloudPets™ also comes with parental controls (which I really like) and only allows invited friends and family to send a message to your pet.  It is truly one-of-a-kind product that keeps loved ones in touch when far away.

Field Trip Boy picked out CloudPets™ Puppy and Field Trip Girl got CloudPets™ Kitty.

CloudPets™ come in a variety of other characters too including Teddy Bear, Bunny and the Walmart Exclusive Unicorn.  I easily found the CloudPets™ located on the end cap in the toy aisle.  I also purchased a pack of Energizer batteries, because three AA batteries are needed for CloudPets™ to work.

When we got home I put the AA batteries in each of their CloudPets™ and downloaded the  CloudPets™ app on my cell phone.  It took me approximately 20 minutes to set up each child’s CloudPets™ account and learn how to use the app.  When I had a question, I simply watched the  CloudPets™ how-to-tutorial online.

Once registration was complete, I sent each of my children their own private message to their CloudPets™.  The look on their faces when they say their  CloudPets™ heart light up was precious!  Over the last week I sent them numerous messages including reading poems, singing songs and saying “I love you!”

Now it was time to get the grandparents on board with CloudPets™!  To do this I sent invitations via the CloudPets™ app to every family member I could think of!

I helped my sister-n-law download the app when we saw her over the weekend.

And my dad sent me this cute picture of him recording a message for the grand kids via the   CloudPets™ app.

My children have throughly enjoyed getting all sorts of messages from their family members!  It is definitely a great way to stay in touch!

CloudPets™ are currently available in select Walmart stores, but will be available nationwide soon.  Now the only question remaining is “Who do you plan to purchase a CloudPets™  for?”
