My family and I have many precious memories of visiting the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, California. From taking a behind the scenes tour last summer to attending their homeschool day with friends, we always learn something new about the ocean and our local marine life.
The International Children’s Day Festival at the Aquarium of the Pacific is no exception! The festival features dance and music performed by children, interactive programs for all ages, face painting, and educational programs.
International Children’s Day Festival
The Aquarium of the Pacific’s eleventh annual International Children’s Day is a special festival for kids on the weekend of April 9-10. Celebrating the amazing talents of children of all cultures, this year’s festival features West African, Mexican, Pacific Islander, Cambodian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Persian dance performances. Also featured will be an international children’s choir and martial arts demonstrations.
Kids of all ages can partake in the following FREE activities:
- Face Painting
- Chumash Native American Cultural Crafts with Oscar Ortiz
- Origami Kai with Joy Nishijima
- Hawaiian Games, Tattoos, & Lei Making compliments of Pacific Islander Health Partnership
- A Percussion Circle
The Aquarium will also honor a local youth on Sunday at 12:20 pm with its annual Young Hero Award, in recognition of his or her efforts to make our planet a better place.
The International Children’s Festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday, April 9 and 10, 2016 from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
