Introducing the Lunch Box Fairy!

It happens every morning in almost every household in America!  The big “what I am going to make for my child’s lunch today” question!  If you are anything like me, I dredge mornings and getting my kids ready for school.  Mornings is simply not my thing!  I have tried making my children’s lunches the night before, but even then, I stare blankly at the lunch box wondering if one day someone will create a magical Lunch Box Fairy!

We have all sorts of mythical characters in our culture from the Easter Bunny to the Tooth Fairy to that annoying little green Leprechaun that likes to mess up my house and turn my toilets green on St. Patrick’s Day.  Heck, why can’t we add a Lunch Box Fairy to the mix!  I would vote for it!

The closest thing I have found to a mysterious Lunch Box Fairy is Influenster’s #rockthelunchbox campaign.

Recently, I received a package in the mail with coupons from healthy conscious companies such as Honest Kids, Annie’s, Rudi’s and Applegate.   The task at hand was for me to try some of the companies latest products and create a meal that would rock my child’s world.  Well, at least rock their lunch box!

Field Trip Girl and I got in the car and headed over to Whole Foods to gather up our supplies.  To keep her interested in the campaign, I turned our trip into a scavenger hunt.  Field Trip Girl got her own shopping cart and went about uncovering the mysterious items throughout the store.  Each time she found an item she got a sticker to add to her sticker chart.  She was a happy little girl up for the challenge!

Field Trip picked out the following items for the challenge:

  • Annie’s Friends Bunny Grahams
  • Honest Kids’ Berry Berry Good Lemonade Fruit Pouches
  • Applegate’s Half Time Turkey & American Cheese Snack Box

Mommy (me) picked out Rudi’s Double Fiber Wheat Bread for our sandwiches.  Please don’t tell my kids though!

So, the next morning when I got up to make my children’s lunches, I was amazed at how simple it could really be!  I put a few of Annie’s crackers in a cute little blue cup, slipped in an Honest Kids drink pouch and put in an Applegate’s Half Time meal as their main dish.  Applegate’s Half Time meals are especially useful if you are in a hurry in the morning, like we always seem to be.  To top of their lunch boxes, I added in a green apple and they were set to go!

As you can see, I may not have created the mythical Lunch Box Fairy quite yet.  But, by selecting healthy food choices for my kid’s lunches, I may not have to after all!

So, are you up for the #rockthelunchbox challenge?  I double dare you!

I NEED this…looks great! I'm going to try the Rudi's dbl fiber bread! and by the way, I try to make lunches the night before, so it's usually on a tired brain that I say, "WHAT am I going to give the kids for lunch tomorrow?!"

Thank you for the sweet comment. Yes, I vote to blame it on our tired brains too! :)
