It’s that wonderful time of year when Thanksgiving and Christmas come together filled with bountiful feasts that expand your waistline and where wonderful memories with friends and family are made. It’s also the time when we rack up not just calories, but miles on our vehicles!
Okay, I might be dating myself here, but whether your road trips are quiet and mundane or similar to that of the Griswold’s adventure, from the movie, “National Lampoons Vacation”, I must say that there is no better vehicle to do it in comfort and style as in the 2018 Toyota Sequoia. And not just the Toyota Sequoia, but also the crown jewel of the Sequoia line, the Platinum edition!
It’s truly a first class commuting experience, where you and your family are enveloped in ultimate comfort. But, before diving into this magnificent vehicle, I’ll start with our holiday journey for Thanksgiving.
My family and I live in Southern California. Our family consists of four, my husband and two wonderful children, ages eight and ten. To say riding in a car for seven to eight hours is hard is an understatement.
Our quest this holiday season was to drive to Northern California, something of 450 miles through Los Angeles and up the I-5 freeway. Usually our drive consists of at least two to three stops, taking around seven or eight hours until the final destination is reached. Often times mom and dad arrive with frayed nerves and a bit of PTSD from the kids arguing or fighting over toys or who get’s what device.
But this year our drive up north was welcomingly different! Our usual road-tripping gauntlet did not rear its ugly head. Instead, we were graciously offered the opportunity to hit the road to visit my parents in the 2018 Toyota Sequoia.
The night before our trip we stopped off and got some Blu-Ray DVD’s for the kids since one the great features of the 2018 Toyota Sequoia is that it comes with a fantastic entertainment Blu-Ray DVD system.
My husband and I were giddy to know that our kids would be entertained and distracted from going MMA on each other during our long journey the next morning.
We started on our journey on Monday morning at 6 am that Thanksgiving week. We had a lot of gifts and luggage, and of course kids stuff to tag along with us. Upon opening the trunk door with resounding joy we were welcomed with mad cargo space in the 2018 Toyota Sequoia. We were able to fit all our stuff in the back with enough space to fit Grandma Griswold back there, for those familiar with the movie! It was amazing.
The platinum version of the 2018 Toyota Sequoia comes decked out with leather seats throughout the entire cabin. The seats are so spacious and comfortable that our kids immediately fell asleep once I turned on the engine.
After they woke up, they read a bit, and then we put on a movie. The entertainment system with the remote control in the back provided mom and dad in the front with serenity and bliss!
As we made our way northbound through the San Joaquin Valley, my husband and I were impressed with the smooth ride, adept handling and the power of the 2018 Toyota Sequoia. This gem of a ride comes packed with a lot of horses under the hood, a 5.7 L V-8 engine along with a six speed automatic transmission with tow haul mode.
The 2018 Toyota Sequoia, Platinum edition also comes with 20-inch alloy wheels riding on an adaptive variable suspension system, with three selections. You can dial the suspension of your choosing. I enjoyed driving in sport mode, but was overruled by my husband and kids, so comfort mode it was. For those of the adventurous spirit, the Platinum edition comes equipped with 4 Wheel Drive.
More importantly, the 2018 Toyota Sequoia comes loaded with life saving safety features; such as mirror blind spot indicators along with sensors that let you know when you drift into another lane unexpectedly. Another nice feature is the safety pre-collision sensor system. With this feature, you have three distance levels you can select from, which determines how far you want the vehicle to automatically break from the car in front of you. This feature would definitely beneficial for commuters.
