Two weeks ago, my family and I were invited to a media tasting at Bruxie in Irvine, California to preview their new menu offerings.
Chefs and Co-Founders Dean Simon and Kelly Mullarney first opened Bruxie in Orange County in November 2010 to present a new take on The Sandwich, using a proprietary version of an authentic Belgian Waffle to offer a light, airy, crispy alternative to the traditional sandwich bread. In addition to its impressive waffle sandwich menu, Bruxie offers a selection of inspired, fresh, flavorful salads, locally produced old-fashioned cane sugar sodas, real Wisconsin frozen custard, shakes, sundaes, and floats.
For the first time since Bruxie opened its first location in 2010, Chefs and Co-Founders Dean Simon and Kelly Mullarney have added a variety of new menu offerings, some of which go beyond its renowned Bold Fold.
Bruxie fans will enjoy the addition of their new Signature Salads, Crispy Chicken Tenders, additional Chicken & Waffle offerings, and two new Bruxie Burgers – the original Bruxie waffle sandwich that put the brand on the map!
NEW SIGNATURE SALADS:
Their new signature salads are made with farm fresh produce, made-from-scratch dressings and served with a Bruxie Waffle Crisp. It’s definitely not a Bruxie salad without a Bruxie Waffle Crisp!
Traditional Greek
Romaine Hearts & Wild Arugula, Cucumber, Red Onion, Kalamata Olives, Feta Cheese, Lemon Vinaigrette.
Hot Pastrami Caesar Salad
Grilled Boar’s Head Pastrami on top of their classic caesar salad. This was my favorite dish on the new menu. We will definitely be back to try it again, but this time with my hubby in tow. I don’t want him to miss out on all the yummy offerings!
Buttermilk Fried Chicken Cobb
A traditional California Cobb salad with a twist! Bruxie’s version is made with warm buttermilk friend chicken and ranch dressing.
Asian Chopped Salad with Grilled Chicken
A light salad served with Napa cabbage, cucumber, mandarin oranges, wontons and sesame mustard dressing. You can also order this as a vegetarian salad instead.

Of course you can never go wrong ordering classic Bruxie waffles served with a personal syrup bottle!
And dessert! You can’t skip dessert! Field Trip Girl ordered a root beer float made with real Wisconsin frozen custard.
Field Trip boy opted for a cup of frozen custard.
