Whale Watching & Dolphin Cruise With Newport Landing Tours, Newport Beach (children’s tickets good through March 31)

SuperHero & Princess Academy III: A Mini-Musical for Little Ones, Santa Monica (Feb. 13, 14, 20, 21 & 28)

In the latest edition of this popular series, the Princesses and SuperHeroes are getting ready for the big Academy Ball, sharing tips on manners, dressing up and more. But as soon as the ball gets rolling, the party’s crashed by a group of evil villains, and your kids are asked to become part of the action to get the celebration back on track. The talented folks at the Creating Arts Company — no strangers to fun — have crafted yet another engaging one-hour mini-musical filled with lots of audience interaction, singing and dancing. The little ones are encouraged to come in superhero, princess or villain costumes, and stick around after the show for pictures and autographs.

Pinocchio: The Musical by Los Angeles Children’s Theater, Los Angeles (Feb. 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 & 28)

Pinocchio, that little wooden scamp with the growing nose, has been delighting children for generations. The Los Angeles Children’s Theater presents its own lively, captivating version of the tale, adapted from the beloved animated film and perfect for ages 3 and up. Grease Singalong on the Big Screen @ The Canyon, Agoura Hills (Feb. 21)

If you’re “Hopelessly Devoted” to Grease, come to The Canyon in Agoura Hills for a journey back to Rydell High, where you’ll sing along to “You’re the One That I Want,” “Beauty School Dropout,” “Summer Nights” and all of the film’s big hits. Dress up like a Pink Lady or T-Bird, hand jive in the aisles, and witness John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John fall in love all over again at this high-spirited Grease singalong hosted by legendary L.A. radio personality Charlie Tuna. Costumes are recommended, but singing is definitely mandatory.

SoCal Film Festival, Huntington Beach, Feb. 10-13

For an 11th year, the SoCal Film Festival in Huntington Beach is providing an outlet for independent filmmakers to screen their features and shorts, including comedies, science fiction, documentaries, animated and international films. For four straight days at the Huntington Beach Central Library Theatre, you can see films from 11 countries, 14 first-time or student filmmakers (including three teens), 13 Southern California filmmakers and 15 women directors — with many screenings accompanied by Q&As from the filmmakers. A few highlights of the SoCal Film Festival include Driving While Black and Cesium and a Tokyo Girl, part social commentary about the Fukushima nuclear plant disaster and part Japanese history lesson.
