I’m always a bit envious when my wife pays homage to a day spa and gets a great massage.  It is certainly well-earned as she runs the daily affairs of our home and kids.  And I often don’t think about getting a massage for myself, but as I learned from Burke Williams Day Spa, I sure am missing out!

Earlier this week, I was invited by the Burke Williams Day Spa in Mission Viejo, California to experience the classic Burke Williams Spa Style Facial.  This time I was not going to let the opportunity pass me by!  I must confess though, I was boasting about it at work a little bit beforehand.  In fact, some of my co-worker friends were jealous and wanted to go along with me.

When I visited Burke Williams on a Wednesday evening, I had a crazy day at the office.  I felt as though I was carrying a log across my shoulders when I walked into the spa.  Yet upon arrival, I was greeted by a calming foyer with smells of relaxation and two pleasant guest attendants.

First, I was guided into the spa facilities.  The facility is nothing short of magnificent in opulence.

The spa is decked out with a jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, showers and something odd called a “cold drench”.  Yeah, I decided to pass on that one!

Just a short while later, it was show time!  I was warmly greeted by Jillian, otherwise known as the gal who was the “masseuse maestro”.  I was led into a room with a relaxing landscape, dim lighting and calming music.  The bed and blanket were heated too.  It was a nice touch!

I started my spa treatment with a warm paraffin hand dip.   Jillian also put some mitts on to trap in the moister.  She than placed some facial cleansers on my face along with a warm mist.  Now I’m really starting to like this treatment!

Next, I was given an out of this world shoulder, back, neck and facial massage.  I could feel the scales of fatigue, stress and those darn migrating muscle knots in my back begin to fade away.  And if that wasn’t enough, Jillian then removed those mitts from earlier and performed a hand and arm massage.  She concluded my treatment with a foot and calf massage, which for someone who runs 5 miles a day, I’ll take any time!

My experience as Burke Williams Day Spa was nothing short of amazing!  I must say that I often hear of the high caliber of this establishment and I was NOT disappointed.  Jillian provided a top-notch treatment and was able to work out the effects of that “log” I often carry on my shoulders.

Guys, I know the option of a day spa doesn’t always come to mind, but I encourage you to pay a visit to Burke Williams Day Spa.  You might just get hooked like me!
