My wife and I were set, we had our babysitter lined up and now it was time for us to go out on a date! Our destination, O-live Tree Mediterranean Cuisine in Irvine. The restaurant is a small quaint little place in Irvine off Main Street. There is ample parking in the garage next door, along with a couple of hours validated parking. So don’t forget to bring your ticket for validation inside the restaurant. O-live Tree Mediterranean Cuisine is a new restaurant in town, in business for around 4 month. I first learned about this restaurant by going there for a quick take-out lunch with a few co-workers. We enjoyed our lunch so much, that I was looking forward to another visit!
O-live Tree Mediterranean Cuisine is based upon the premise of serving deliciously healthy food from recipes handed down through generations. The founder of this fine establishment wrote a recipe book and received high accolades, to include several television appearances sharing her tasty foods for healthy living. In following her dream, she moved all the way from Turkey to Irvine, opening O-live Tree Mediterranean Cuisine to share her fine creations with the Irvine community.
My wife and I arrived at O-live Tree Mediterranean Cuisine in Irvine just after sunset, where we were welcomed with the pleasant aroma of Mediterranean food cooking, and a beautiful patio lined with tiki torches. Our waitress and the owner graciously directed us to our table.
We started our lovely evening with a popular Mediterranean appetizer, humus and pita bread. It was delicious with a touch of garlic added. We could have eaten this all night long!
After the 2nd round of pita bread, we were ready to be surprised with more delicacies. That next item was O-live Tree Mediterranean Cuisine’s homemade Red Lentil Soup, comprised of red lentils of course, and paired with onions, potatoes and butter. The Red Lentil Soup is a great appetizer or accompaniment to any one of their main dishes.
Now onto the main courses. My wife ordered the Gyro Platter and I went with the Adana Kabob. The dishes came out quickly right off the grill and looked great, but tasted even better! The Gyro Platter is made of a beef/lamb mixture, and comes with a wonderful tzatziki sauce, along with a side of fresh salad and rice. The menu is true to the restaurant’s theme, healthy and delicious!
My Adana Kabob was off the hook, served with two skewers of mildly spiced ground beef/lamb, a scoop of rice, and a refreshingly unique salad made with parsley, mint, tomatoes, onions and bulgur. The Adana Kabob pairs well with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon.
My after-dinner-treat was a cup of O-live Tree Mediterranean Cuisine’s Turkish Coffee. A small cup of coffee that packs a big punch! It was rich with powerful flavors.
Finally, if you are looking for a quaint restaurant, where you can relax and unwind, then O-live Tree Mediterranean Cuisine is the place for you. They offer both a lunch and dinner menu at a reasonable price that won’t break the bank!
O-live Tree Mediterranean Cuisine is located at 2010 Main St #185, Irvine, CA 92614.
