Thank you Curves International for sponsoring this post. Ready to get #CurvesStrong?
Today is day 10 of my Curves® 30-day workout challenge! After having 2 kids, and focusing on my family for years, I’ve decided that it’s time to put “mom” first and get back into shape.
Yet there’s one problem. I’ve never been the type of person who enjoys working out at the gym, running 5 miles a day or taking a Bikram yoga class. Instead, I like exercise that is simple and easy to do. I want to be able to put on my tennis shoes and go out the door! That’s why, when Curves International, Inc. invited me to visit my local Curves, and experience their popular 30-minute circuit training workout, I immediately jumped on the opportunity.
What Makes Curves Different
Curves offers women a moderately intensity circuit training workout that works every major muscle group with strength training, cardio and stretching. There is always a coach on hand to help members with proper form, answer questions and offer encouragement.
There are two main reasons for Curves‘ success. First, their practical approach to women’s health and fitness works well with a modern woman’s busy schedule. Second, Curves create a very supportive environment for exercising and working out.
At my first visit to Curves Laguna Niguel, I was kindly greeted by one of the gym’s cowners named Valerie, and provided a complimentary tour of the facility. My first impression of the gym was that it was clean and bright.
There were inspirational quotes everywhere! This definitely caught my attention, as I need a lot of inspiration and encouragement to stay focused and exercise.
After I completed the tour, I got on my first Curves circuit machine and stated exercising. You can actually start anywhere in the circuit as long as you finish where you first started.
Valerie stayed with me the entire time and was my coach as I moved from station to station. She demonstrated how each strength training machine operated and challenged me to increase my heart rate in between stations. I constantly heard her say “get your arms up!” Valerie was not only motivating, but just what I needed to get through my first Curves workout. By the end of the session, I was tired, but felt stronger.
Over the next four weeks, as I carve time out my busy schedule, I look forward to seeing how my body transforms and changes into a better version of me.

Love that you are making time for exercise. I know as a mom of 4 it's hard but I do try since it is important.

I have always wanted to try out Curves since it seems like it can be for beginners! I need to see if we have one in my area.
