When you image summer time what comes to mind? Fireworks, long summer nights on the patio or endless bundles of fun building sand sculptures at the beach? Two key components of summer for my family are spending quality time together and enjoying our local community. Since we travel a lot as a family, simply being home can sometimes feel like a luxury. When we are at home we like to explore our local community. South Orange County hosts several free family-friendly events offered all summer long. One of my personal favorite events is the Concerts in the Park sponsored by Baker Ranch in Lake Forest, California. Nothing beats making a picnic, laying out a blanket and listening to some relaxing music underneath the beautiful skyline. Isn’t that what summer is all about? Relaxation!
The Summer Concerts are totally FREE and open to the public!

Friday, July 17th, 5:30 – 8:00 pm
Neil Morrow & Memphis’ 54 – Rockabilly/Country (with line dancing instruction)
Neil Morrow & Memphis 54 is a high energy “this time with feeling” type of band. Their music is rooted in early American Rock ‘n’ Roll, Rockabilly and Honky-tonk country (a.k.a. alternative country). Neil Morrow leads the band with powering vocals and a driving piano style that brings a hint of the legendary “Killer.”
Friday, August 21st, 5:30 – 8:00 pm
A Peaceful Easy Evening – Eagles Tribute Band
Bring a picnic dinner, blankets and chairs to lay out on the lawn, but don’t worry about drinks and desserts…those are being provided for FREE! Did someone say “popcorn bar?” They will be serving up popcorn with all your favorite seasonings and sweet treats at the next concert on July 17!

What a coincidence! I just posted my own version of free summer concerts in the South Bay (Hermosa, Redondo, Manhattan...). Free summer concerts are my all-time favorite outing with my family. This looks like a beautiful venue.

Yes to Summer! Your so right from free concerts in the park and on the beach along with the other low cost fun things to do this time of year is great. The extended day light gives you more time to spend with friends and family!
