Are you curious how the world was made? Have you or your children studied evolution and want to learn more about creationism from a Christian perspective? Then a visit to The Creation & Earth History Museum in Santee, California is the perfect location to further explore the never-ending Evolution vs. Creation debate.
About The Creation and Earth History Museum
When you visit The Creation & Earth History Museum, you will learn how the world was created in 7 days according to a Creationist viewpoint. All of the museum’s exhibits are based upon Biblical history. Beginning with Creation in Genesis 1 through the rebellion of humanity against the Creator, the worldwide flood of Noah’s time, the dispersion at Babel, the history of Israel, the Gentile nations and the redemptive work of Jesus Christ as Savior of the world.
Days of Creation 1-3 shows how the heavens and earth were created according to Genesis 1:1-13.
Day 4 of Creation explains how the sun, moon, stars and light came into being (Genesis 1:14-19). Being a lover of astronomy, Field Girl spent a lot of time in this portion of the exhibit.
Days of Creation 5-7 introduces visitors to the Garden of Eden and the establishment of man, specifically Adam and Eve, and our animal species.
The Creation & Earth History Museum recently expanded their animal exhibits and added several new creatures. Some of the animals on display in Day 5 & Day 6 are the rosy boa, California kingsnake, long-nosed snake, African ball python, desert iguana, bearded dragon, leopard gecko, western toad, Russian tortoise, Chilean rose hair tarantula, Madagascar hissing cockroache, and more.
The museum also offers a traveling animal program for churches and homeschool groups called Creeping Things.
Next, our family learned about the Fall of Man, Noah’s Ark and the World Wide Flood. For Christians, this is when sin entered the world and established mankind’s need for a Savior.
In the Noah’s Ark exhibit, Field Trip Boy and Field Trip Girl got to help build an ark and hammer on planks of real wood.
The Creation & Earth History Museum includes many additional exhibits such as:
The Grand Canyon Wall & Fossils
Mount St. Helens
The Ice Age
Ancient Civilizations displays including the Babylonians, Greeks and Romans.
The Hall of Scholars (Evolution vs Creation Debate)
The Age of the Earth Cave presents rare minerals and data with explanations defending a young Earth view while dealing with today’s common dating methods such as Carbon 14, Radio Isotopes, and Helium Argon processes. The 300-
The Tabernacle represents God’s symbols for a clear explanation of his terms of reconciliation and an object lesson of how God will redeem man and continue a relationship. The goal of the Tabernacle is referenced in Exodus 25:8, “Let them make me a sanctuary that I may dwell among them”.
The Human Anatomy Exhibit includes wall displays, models and videos, which provide educational information on DNA, various types of human cells, body systems, and the stages of human life beginning with conception. Colorful images of primary tissue, skin, bone and blood cells are accompanied by plaques loaded with fun facts and descriptions and great for any audience. By far, this was my favorite part of the museum. It was very educational for my kids too.
There is so much to see at The Creation & Earth History Museum that you really need a good 2-3 hours to go through the entire museum. There is A LOT of reading involved! Therefore, in my opinion, the museum is ideal for children ages 8 and up. Younger children will benefit from visiting the museum, but there is a lot of information to absorb.
