After a great day on the slopes, New Year’s Eve guests will be treated to a torchlight parade (6 p.m. start time), which will serpentine down Miracle Mile run at Snow Summit. A spectacular sight to see as 100 skiers and snowboarders carry torches down Miracle Mile to weave a mysterious path of light to ring in the New Year.
New Year’s Eve Grape Drop, Temecula, 12/31 @ 6:00 pm – 12:30 am (FREE)
Ring in 2017 Temecula-style at the annual Grape Drop with two countdowns – east coast style (9 pm) and west coast style (midnight). The celebration offers live bands and a free fun zone for kids with hat making, calligraphy art, face painting and a giant slide. Patio heaters and some chairs provided. Bring jackets to keep warm and extra chairs for extra seating.

For the second year in a row, the LA Zoo is hosting a Family New Year’s Eve party. Admission includes a “skip-the-line” express entry to L.A. Zoo Lights, dinner buffet, soft drinks, complimentary champagne for adults, sparkling apple cider for kids, dessert, a ride on the Zoo’s hand-crafted conservation carousel, crafts for youngsters, DJ dance party, cash bar and a live broadcast of New York’s Times Square ball drop at 9 p.m.

At Grand Park, in the heart of Los Angeles, you can spend the evening ringing in 2017 with performances and large-scale animated projections (taking up 22 stories of City Hall) plus plenty of food and music for everyone. This year’s party is set to entertain 50,000 people across 90 acres of downtown starting at 8 p.m. This will be an alcohol-free, family-friendly event.

10 – 9 – 8… let the countdown begin at The Zimmer Children’s Museum! Come enjoy their many exhibits and programs. Then get in on the fun counting down to the new year again and again throughout the day! Decorate your own sparkly party accessories and noisemakers as you ring in 2017. The balloon drop takes place all day long at 11:17 am, 12:17 pm, 1:17 pm, 2:17 pm and 3:17 pm. The museum is less crowded earlier in the day.

Midnight is way past bed time, so celebrate the new year a bit early with Kidspace! Experience the ginormous balloon drop at noon, sip and toast cups of sparkling cider, and create your own noisemakers to ring in 2017. Come celebrate the New Year with Kidseum! We will craft the day away with fun New Year’s themed projects. In the Art Studio, kids will create hand-made reusable confetti poppers and colorful noisemakers that they can use at home during the real countdown. The kiddos will practice countdowns every hour on the hour, beginning at noon, to be ready for the New Year’s countdown. Kids can practice making as much noise as possible with their hand-crafted noise makers and practice shooting their confetti! In the Glow Cave, we will make glowing wish wands that will even glow in the dark when you take them home! At 3:00 pm, after our practice countdown and blasting of colorful confetti, there will be a balloon drop in the center of Kidseum!

Knott’s is the place to ring in 2016 with a night full of special family-friendly experiences, including live musical acts, exclusive stage shows, and Merry Farm entertainment, culminating in a fantastic fireworks show. As the final moments of 2015 countdown, the Knott’s Sky Cabin will dramatically rise over 200 ft. to the top of the “K” tower as special lighting effects countdown to midnight. When the cabin reaches the top at the stroke of midnight the “K” tower, the skies above Knott’s will light up with a spectacular fireworks show! Children will use various materials such as buttons, beads, and other manipulatives to practice their counting skills, learn one to one correspondence and the ability to count backwards which will be a useful skill to use for our Noon-Year’s eve countdown.
