Fall is my favorite season! During October and November, my family and I like to make homemade pumpkin pies, go apple picking in Oak Glen, enjoy the fall foliage and take in the season’s best activities throughout Southern California.
One of my family’s favorite annual fall events is to visit The Irvine Park Railroad’s Annual Pumpkin Patch at The Irvine Regional Park in Orange. Children and adults are invited to visit the pumpkin patch which is open daily at 10:00 am. I especially enjoyed going to the pumpkin patch with my mom’s group when my children were younger.
Irvine Park Railroad’s Pumpkin Patch Activities
This year’s Pumpkin Patch activities include train rides, hay rides, panning for gold, a child-friendly haunted house, a hay maze, a moon bounce, pumpkin ring toss, carnival games, cookie decorating, John Deere tractor racers, face painting, picture stands, great food and a lot more. The Pumpkin Patch also has thousands of pumpkins in all shapes and sizes to choose from. And there are lots of great photo opportunities too!
The Great Pumpkin Weigh Off
The Irvine Park Railroad’s Annual also has a “Great Pumpkin Weigh Off!” during the fall season. Come see if local pumpkin growers have what it takes to grow the biggest pumpkin in Orange County and win $8000 in cash and prizes. On this day only, they also have a lot of giant pumpkins for sale.
Irvine Park Railroad’s Pumpkin Patch Admission
Admission into the Pumpkin Patch is free along with visiting the haunted house, taking photos in the festive fall picture stands, playing in the giant hay maze and climbing on the hay pyramid. Prices for all other activities vary accordingly. Most activities are 1 ticket per person. For those that like to save a few bucks, they do offer a book of 15 tickets for a discounted price.
The cost of pumpkins varies. As you enter the Pumpkin Patch, there are stands with pumpkins and prices to view before and during your purchase.
The Irvine Park Railroad’s Pumpkin Patch is open from 10 am – 5 pm on weekdays and 10 am – 6 pm on weekends. We prefer to go during the week when it is less crowded.
The parking fee for Irvine Regional Park is $3.00 per vehicle on weekdays and $5.00 per vehicle on weekends.
