Knott’s Berry Farm announced today in honor of their 100th anniversary celebration that the Bear-y Tales theme park ride is returning to the theme park in 2020. But this time with a twist! Bear-y Tales is an all-new 4-D interactive dark ride, bringing to life a continuation of the classic attraction initially commissioned by the Knott Family and created in 1975 by the legendary attraction designer Rolly Crump. Rolly Crump is also famous for his work on the Enchanted Tiki Room, Haunted Mansion and It’s a Small World at Disneyland.
Berry-y Tales Returns To Knott’s Berry Farm in 2020
Knott’s Bear-y Tales: Return to the Fair will take guests on an exciting journey through reimagined show scenes that are reminiscent of the original dark ride, including the Boysenberry Pie Factory, Frog Forest, Fortune Teller Camp, Thunder Cave, and Weird Woods, culminating in a celebration at the County Fair.
The new story lines takes place 34 years after the original adventure and follows Boysen Bear and Girlsen Bear as they travel to the Country Fair to earn the blue ribbon prize for their famous boysenberry pies, but Crafty Coyote is back along with his mischievous pups intent on stealing all the pies for themselves.
Guests will climb aboard ride vehicles equipped with jelly blasters to try and recover the stolen boysenberry pies as they travel through whimsical and beautiful environments while competing for the highest score. New digitally rendered scenes will recreate the most popular scenes from the original attraction.
But some Knott’s fans will be sad to say goodbye to Voyage to the Iron Reed 4-D, an interactive dark ride that debuted at the park in 2015, to make room for Berry-y Tales. The last day to ride Voyage to the Iron Reef is on January 5, 2020. Knott’s Bear-y Tales will debut in the summer of 2020.
Knott’s Berry Farm 100th Anniversary Celebration
In addition to Knott’s Berr-y Tale, Knott’s Berry Farm will celebrate it’s 100 years of history with a summer-long Knott’s Family Reunion in 2020 that pays tribute to the legacy of the theme park’s founding family. The Knott’s Family Reunion will feature anniversary decor, live entertainment and themed food and merchandise.
The new year kicks off with the return of Knott’s Peanuts Celebration, January 25 through March 1. This season of fun is exclusively dedicated to the beloved PEANUTS characters. Next up is my favorite season on the farm, Knott’s Boysenberry Festival, taking place March 20 through April 19, followed by Ghost Town Alive on May 15 – August 30. Ghost Town Alive will return with an all new interactive storyline for guests to explore and unravel alongside the characters of Calico.
Then as the sun goes down, head on over to the Boardwalk, for Orange County’s most popular nighttime party called Knott’s Summer Nights. There will be all new live music, unique summer food offerings, Instagram-able photo opportunities, interactive experiences, and family-friendly games.
For fall, the spooktacular family-friendly daytime Halloween event, Knott’s Spooky Farm, invites families with little ghouls ages 3-11 to celebrate the spooky season exclusively on weekends starting September 26 –October 31. Finally, as the days get shorter and the nights grow cooler, the feeling of Christmas will be discovered at Knott’s Merry Farm, where joy will be in season from November 20, 2020 –January 3, 2021.
